Progress on Activities Building

We continue to make excellent progress on our activities building. This week we had a “work night” with many volunteers to sand, stain, and cut wood for the upper level bunk beds. Ryan, Lucas, and James have also made considerable headway with the communal bathrooms, kitchen, and dorm rooms. Delwin Wilson is also nearing completion on the upstairs carpet. While we are on schedule to have the facilities completed by Tabernacles, there remains much work to be done. The fall Feasts will soon be upon us. For those new to this faith, Yahweh’s Feast days are critically important. Not only are they commanded and will be observed in the millennial Kingdom, but they also reveal His plan of salvation for mankind. The fall Feasts focus on Yahshua’s Second Coming, the establishment of the Kingdom, and the final judgment of mankind. If you are unable to join us in Holts Summit, we will be broadcasting live during these Feasts (Tabernacles online to be limited to high days and weekly Sabbath)

Do you remember the first time that you knew I was here? Boy, were you surprised! I was going to be with you when you would lie down to sleep at night and all through your busy day, after you got up. I was going to be with you in everything you did, whether you were sitting at home or out on the road somewhere, like two peas in a pod.

Sometimes you would stay up late, walking the floor. Sometimes you cried. Sometimes you couldn’t eat. But, when you did eat, I shared your every meal, letting you know which foods were not my favorites – like Brussels sprouts. Whew! We spent half the night in the bathroom after that one. I know I make you sick sometimes – you can’t even stand the smell of coffee, your favorite drink – but I will make it up to you with kisses someday.

I am getting stronger and, one day, I was able to give you a little kick just to let you know that I was still here and doing well. However, you thought you had gas, so each day I would give you little kicks until you knew that it was really me. It was a fun game, because you would put your warm hand on the spot and say, “Oh, it moved!” Just for your information, I am not an “it.” I’m your baby boy and I will have brown hair and green eyes, just like yours. For now, though, I am your secret. Only you know that I am here, but I am growing bigger and bigger and soon others will know about me, too.

Do you remember that day when you turned on the electric blender to make a strawberry smoothie, my favorite? I had been taking a little snooze and the sudden noise made me jump. I think it scared you, too, because you started crying again. I didn’t mean to scare you so much. I only want you to be happy having me – just like I’m happy being yours.

I really like it when you play music – especially the slower, soft melodies. I stop kicking and rolling around just to listen. Sometimes I get so relaxed that I fall asleep. What a beautiful world I will be entering! I will get to see your face, drink lots of strawberry smoothies and listen to music.

Lately, I’ve been hearing other voices. Sometimes the voices sound kind, but sometimes they sound angry or mean. I hear words like, “shame,” “life limiting,” “burden,” and “poverty.” The loud voices don’t scare me, though, because I know that I am safe here with you.

Today we’re waiting to see the doctor. I’m so excited because he will tell you just how healthy and perfectly formed I am from the tip of my bald head to my tiny toes. Here he comes now…

Wait! What is the doctor doing? Stop, that hurts! Don’t take me away, please!

…Well, I guess I won’t get to see you after all…

Will you have another son like me someday? Will you remember me when you look into his eyes or hold him close as he nurses at your breast? When he learns to walk and talk, will you tell him about me, his brother? Will he get to drink strawberry smoothies and listen to beautiful music with you? Will he get to play first base on the Little League team and will you help him with his multiplication tables? Will that tall, young man in the graduation gown remind you of another son you briefly knew?

When you are older and almost finished with life’s struggles – the frantic scramble, the unmet goals, the disappointments, the hurts, all of the things that don’t seem so important anymore – will I come to mind? When you sit alone in the silence, sipping a cup of coffee and recalling the friends and family that have faded away, will you think of me? Who knows what my life would have been like? But, there’s one thing I do know, Mom. I would have eaten my Brussels sprouts, just for you.

What is your position regarding those who call themselves Jews today? Are they actual descendants of Judah?

Q. What is your ministry’s position regarding the Synagogue of Satan, the Talmudist Satanists who call themselves Jews today? Are they seen as rejected by Yahweh for killing and rejecting Yahshua? Or is your movement a pro-Zionist modern Talmudist fetish?

A. Generally speaking, we believe that the Jews during the time of the Messiah and the Jews today are the actual blood-descendants of the tribe of Judah. Based on Scripture, there’s no reason to doubt this position.

John 1:11 states that Yahshua “…came unto his own, and his own received him not.” The reference to “his own” clearly refers to the Jews, as we know the Messiah was from the tribe of Judah. Any other explanation would be illogical. Therefore, this passage verifies that the Jews during the first century were indeed from the tribe of Judah and were not counterfeit Jews as you and others construe.

The Bible also confirms that the Jews will be in Jerusalem at Yahshua’s Second Coming. Zechariah 12:2-5 states, “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. In that day, saith Yahweh, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in Yahweh of hosts their Elohim.”

Zechariah describes Yahshua’s return and verifies that the “house of Judah” will be in Jerusalem at this time. The “house of Judah” refers to the descendants of Judah. As John verifies that Judah existed at Yahshua’s first coming, Zechariah verifies that they be in the Holy Land at His Second Coming.

This belief that the Jews during Yahshua’s ministry and the Jews today are satanic and are of the synagogue of Satan is racism and bigotry in its worst form. Frankly, those who believe this should be ashamed and repent of espousing such hate.

While as a ministry we do not support every decision made by the Jewish state, we do support them as a people and believe the promise that Yahweh made to Abraham and to his seed still stands: “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed,” Genesis 12:3.

This racist belief also violates what Paul states in the third chapter of Galatians: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Messiah Yahshua. And if ye be Messiah’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise,” verses 28-29.

Nationality and gender is inconsequential regarding salvation. Those who put up artificial barriers because of race or genetics are in defiance of Scripture. As believers, we are one in Messiah and heirs of Abraham, regardless of ethnicity or skin color.

Q. I agree that the idea of the Beit HaMikdash [temple in Jerusalem] being in the city of David (Mount Tzion) has many positives, however no one putting forth Mt. Tzion as the true location in videos have mentioned 2 Chronicles 3:1, JPS TANAKH: “1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where [the LORD] appeared unto David his father; for which provision had been made in the Place of David, in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.” This passage must be addressed and not ignored.

A. We believe that Mt. Zion and Mt. Moriah are synonymous, similar to Mt. Sinai and Mt. Horeb. As a side note, the location of Mt. Zion has been misunderstood for some time. Most still identify Mt. Zion west from the City of David, when in fact the Bible places it within the City of David. As for Zion being the location of the temple, consider the below passages:

Ps 2:6: “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.”
Ps 20:2: “Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion.”
Ps 51:18-19: “Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.”
Ps 76:2: “In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.”
Ps 99:2: “Yahweh is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.”
Ps 102:16: “When Yahweh shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.”
Ps 132:13: “For Yahweh hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.”
Joel 2:1: “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of Yahweh cometh, for it is nigh at hand.”

Based on the above passages, there is no denying that Zion represents the location of where Yahweh dwelt. Therefore, Zion and Mt. Moriah must be the same location.

While Paul does state that the Messiah is the “end of the law” in Romans 10:4, he is not referring to termination. The Greek word for end is telos and can refer either to a goal or termination point. Strong’s states, “…to set out for a definite point or goal); properly, the point aimed at as a limit, i.e. (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally, figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or prophetic], purpose); specifically, an impost or levy (as paid).” Since Yahshua stated in Matthew 5:17 that He came not to destroy the law, it would be nonsensical to conclude that He abolished the Law.

Q. You state, “…we accept Yahshua as an Elohim.” Can you explain what you mean by this? As I look at the early church, I find myself having to change my whole thinking. I actually began my quest 7 to 10 years ago with the question of just who is the real Jesus. After growing up in church and marrying a pastor’s daughter and raising 4 children, 2 of which serve as missionaries in New York City, here I am in a spiritual quagmire.

A. You are not alone in your journey. We have spoken to countless people who have found themselves in the same situation. After following mainstream Christianity for most of their lives, they realize that what they have believed is not scripturally correct. We know this is not an easy transition and commend you for being willing to question your beliefs, as most are unwilling.

The word “elohim” is Hebrew and equivalent to the Greek theos. Below are definitions from the Strong’s Concordance for both words:

elohiym (el-o-heem’); plural of OT:433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative.

theos (theh’-os); of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with NT:3588) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very.

In addition to Strong’s, below is another definition for elohim from the Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon:

1) (plural)
a) rulers, judges
b) divine ones
c) angels
d) gods
2) (plural intensive – singular meaning)
a) God, a god, a goddess
b) god-like one
c) works or special possessions of God
d) the one true God
e) God

Based on these sources, both elohim and theos provide for multiple meanings. While it can refer to Yahweh, our Heavenly Father, it can also refer to false gods, angels, and mankind. In short, it refers to any exalted position. Regarding the Messiah, few would debate that He is to be exalted. For this reason, He is counted as an elohim. Also, Thomas in John 20:28 refers to Him as a theos. The notable difference between Elohim (including Theos) and God is how they are perceived within Christianity. Today, God is understood as a reference to a singular deity (or deities as it pertains to the Trinity). However, elohim and theos, from where god is derived, contains a much broader meaning and can refer to anyone in an exalted position.

Q. Is Christ a proper title to use in reference to our Savior?

A. Christ comes from the Greek christos and means, “anointed.” It’s equivalent in meaning to the Hebrew mashiyach, from where we receive the English word Messiah. While “Christ” contains no pagan etymology in itself, we refrain from its use in an effort to make a distinction between a Greek and Hebrew faith. Since the Messiah was Jewish and taught a Jewish (Hebraic) faith, we prefer the Hebrew Messiah over the Greek Christ.

Q. Did Paul follow the Messiah’s teachings or did he hijack them and begin a new religion? Yahshua the Messiah says He’s for Israel only. It’s for this reason that I left the church 20 years ago and started with Buddhism.

A. You ask a great and important question. We do not believe that Paul hijacked the Messiah’s message. While many today believe Paul started a new religion that resembled the Greco-Romans culture of his time, nothing could be further from the truth. If Paul is understood and his writings applied correctly, we will conclude that Paul never forsook the faith given to him as a boy. He continued keeping the commandments, even after coming to the Messiah.

An example of Paul’s unrelenting commitment to the faith of the Old Testament is Acts 24:14. He states there, “But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the Elohim of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:”

In addition, we find several examples of Paul supporting the commandments throughout his epistles:

Romans 3:31: “Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not: yea, we establish the law.”

Romans 7:1, 12: Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? … Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”

1Corinthians 7:19: “Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of Yahweh.”

These passages do not describe a man who was anti-law or against the Old Testament, but a man who supported and saw value in both. Along with Paul’s commitment to the law and the Old Testament, we find several examples of him referring to and observing the Sabbath and Feast days.

Acts 17:2: “And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures.”

Acts 18:4: “And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.”

Acts 20:16: “For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.”

1Corinthians 5:7-8: “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Messiah our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

A man who was sincerely opposed to the Old Testament laws would have never observed them as Paul did. Through Paul’s actions he demonstrated that he was not against the commandments, but supported and taught them.

While he remained faithful to his Old Testament roots, he was at times hard to understand. Peter even warns about Paul’s epistles, “And account that the longsuffering of our Master is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction,” 2Perter 3:15-16.

Sadly, Christianity is guilty of Peter’s admonition. For nearly 2,000 years the church has used Paul to undermine sound, biblical teachings. So much of church theology and teachings are based on error and paganism, including beliefs such as the Trinity, the immortal soul, and going to heaven or hell after death. This is also true of church holidays. Christmas and Easter are both based on pagan tradition. Christmas ushers back to the Roman festival of Saturnalia, a day originally dedicated to the god Saturn. As the early church grew, they compromised on an ever-increasing scale, until there was virtually no truth remaining.

As a ministry, we strive to base everything we believe and do only on the Bible. For this reason, we dismiss and reject all beliefs that are foreign, especially those adopted from paganism.

What the does the Bible say about the immortality of the soul?

Q. Do you believe that mankind has an immortal soul? Many churches teach as their doctrine that when a person dies they instantly go to heaven or hell, but the Bible does not support that. Doesn’t the Bible show that the “elect” will be resurrected at the Messiah’s Second Coming and the remainder of mankind at the second resurrection?

A. We do not believe that man has an immortal soul. This belief likely originated with the Egyptians, which was then adopted by the Greeks and eventually by Judaism and Christianity.

According to Herodotus, a Greek historian who lived during the fifth century BCE, immortal soul beliefs trace directly back to the mystery religion of the Egyptians: “The Egyptians were the first that asserted that the soul of man is immortal…This opinion some among the Greeks have at different periods of time adopted as their own” (Euterpe, chapter 123).

The Jewish Encyclopedia, in the article, “Immortality of the Soul,” says, “The belief that the soul continues its existence after the dissolution of the body is a matter of philosophical or theological speculation rather than of simple faith, and is accordingly nowhere taught in the Holy Scripture….The belief in the immortality of the soul came to the Jews from contact with Greek thought and chiefly through the philosophy of Plato, its principal exponent, who was led to it through Orphic and Eleusinian mysteries in which Babylonian and Egyptian views were strangely blended.”

The Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature corroborates, “Perhaps we may say that the idea of immortality assumed a more definite shape among the Egyptians, for they clearly recognized not only a dwelling-place of the dead, but also a future judgment. ‘Osiris, the beneficent god, judges the dead,’ and, ‘having weighed their heart in the scales of justice, he sends the wicked to regions of darkness, while the just are sent to dwell with the god of light.’ The latter, we read on an inscription, ‘found favor before the great God; they dwell in glory, where they live a heavenly life; the bodies they have quitted will forever repose in their tombs, while they rejoice in the life of the supreme God.’ Immortality was thus plainly taught, although bound up with it was the idea of the preservation of the body, to which they attached great importance, as a condition of the soul’s continued life; and hence they built vast tombs, and embalmed their bodies, as if to last forever,” Immorality, p. 514, Vol. IV. This same exhaustive source also explains the connection between immortality and the ancient eastern religions of Hinduism and Confucianism:

According to the Bible, The day that a person dies their thoughts perish, their spirit or breath returns to Yahweh, and they wait in an unconsciousness state in the grave for the resurrection, Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 12:7; Daniel 12:2. If the person is found worthy of the first resurrection, they will be resurrected when Yahshua the Messiah returns at His Second Coming, 1 Corinthians 15:23; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. If not, they will be resurrected at the second resurrection, also known as the Great White Throne Judgment, Revelation 20:4, 11-15. At this time, they will be judged based on their works, Revelation 20:12.

Who are the two witnesses, how long will they prophesy, and what is their mission?

Q. I’ve come across a lot of teaching via other resources and teachings about the two witnesses in Revelation 11:3-13. There seems to be quite a few interpretations of who they are, when they are to arrive, how long they’ll be here, and even what their mission is. Can you please shed some light on this scripture from your perspective? Will the two witnesses be one of the signs we need to watch for and what is the chronology of their arrival, ministry, death, and departure?

A. While some believe that the two witnesses will be two groups, we favor the view that they will be two men, similar to Moses and Aaron or Joshua and Zerubbabel. In fact, we find analogous language between Joshua and Zerubbabel and the two witnesses.

In reference to Joshua and Zerubbabel, Zechariah 4:12-14 says, “And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my sovereign. Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Sovereign of the whole earth.”

In reference to the two witnesses, Revelation 11:4 states, “These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the Elohim of the earth.”

Revelation 12:14-17 verifies that the two witnesses will begin their ministry the same time the woman, representing spiritual Israel, is taken into the wilderness. Revelation 11:2 states that they will prophesy for 42 months. This corresponds to the final three-and-a-half years of the seven-year tribulation, known as the Great Tribulation.

Regarding their mission, they will testify against the evils of this world, similar to when Moses and Aaron testified against Pharaoh and the Egyptians. This is also akin to Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel who prophesied against the sins of Judah, but whose lot was already cast.

The Bible confirms they will die three days before the Messiah returns and will be resurrected at His coming: “And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Master was impaled. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from Elohim entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them,” Revelation 11:7-11.

There are a few signs that we can watch for as indication of the tribulation and Great Tribulation.

Daniel 9:27 speaks about a world leader, i.e., the Anti-messiah, who will make a covenant (perhaps a peace agreement) with many nations. It states that he will break the covenant in the middle of the week, i.e., the seven-year covenant, and cut off the sacrifices and set up the abomination of desolation. Yahshua also mentions the abomination of desolation in the Olivet prophecy: “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!,” Matthew 24:15-19.

Not only does Yahshua speak about Daniel’s prophecy of the abomination of desolation, but states that when we see this sign those in Judea are to flee. This will begin the Great Tribulation and time of persecution of the Jews and those who keep the commandments of Yahweh and hold to the faith of Yahshua the Messiah. Therefore, if there are two prophecies that indicate the tribulation and the Great Tribulation it is this covenant that the Anti-messiah will establish with many nations and the setting up of this abomination of desolation in the Holy Place. This also confirms that a third temple will likely be built prior to the tribulation, as is also verified in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 and Revelation 11:1-2.
